What the programme promotes

Products

The programme promotes two emblematic European products: extra virgin olive oil and dried grapes.

EU Drops & Bites promotes two products that have been part of European agriculture and cuisine for centuries: European extra virgin olive oil and European dried grapes.

Extra virgin olive oil is obtained from olives solely by mechanical or other physical means, without refining or chemical treatment. Dried grapes are obtained by drying ripe grapes until most of their water has evaporated. Both are subject to the European Union’s food safety and traceability rules at all stages of production, processing and distribution; extra virgin olive oil must also meet the EU marketing standards for its category.

Two products, many uses

Extra virgin olive oil and dried grapes are used together in many dishes of Mediterranean cuisine, from salads and vegetable dishes to breads and desserts. The recipes on this website show how both can be used in everyday cooking.
