Quality reflected in every drop
European extra virgin olive oil
The category of virgin olive oil with the strictest limits under European Union law, obtained from olives solely by mechanical or other physical means.
What the programme promotes
The programme promotes two emblematic European products: extra virgin olive oil and dried grapes.
EU Drops & Bites promotes two products that have been part of European agriculture and cuisine for centuries: European extra virgin olive oil and European dried grapes.
Extra virgin olive oil is obtained from olives solely by mechanical or other physical means, without refining or chemical treatment. Dried grapes are obtained by drying ripe grapes until most of their water has evaporated. Both are subject to the European Union’s food safety and traceability rules at all stages of production, processing and distribution; extra virgin olive oil must also meet the EU marketing standards for its category.
